CRANSTON, RI – A 62-year-old woman was rushed to an area hospital after a collision involving a RIPTA bus Saturday, WJAR News 10 reports.
The collision took place before 3 p.m. at a bus stop on Plainfield Pike along Walmart Supercenter. Cranston police said that after the woman was dropped off at the bus stop, she had tried to get the attention of the bus driver to let her back on board to retrieve her forgotten bag. As she continued her efforts to get back on the bus, she tripped, and the bus struck her in the process.
EMS crews hurried the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that seemed to be non-critical.
Officers did not formally announce any criminal charges against the driver.
