EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – A man was left in critical condition as a result of a car crash in East Providence on Wednesday.
The collision took place around 1:30 a.m. along Metacomet Avenue, WJAR10 News said. The events leading up to the crash are unclear. However, based on what police have indicated, it appears a Corvette may have knocked a traffic or road sign and crashed, splitting in half.
Sean Martin, who first noticed the split Corvette, called 911 and said he saw the driver underneath the significantly damaged vehicle.
Neighbors in the area said speeding is a common occurrence in the area, although it’s not clear whether that was a factor in this particular collision.
The driver suffered critical injuries and was sent to a hospital for treatment.
