WOONSOCKET, RI – A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were hospitalized after getting hit by a car while crossing the intersection of Hamlet Avenue and Manville Road Monday.
The events unfolded around 7 a.m. when the driver, a 25-year-old man, a local, had plowed into a snowbank before hitting the woman and child, WPRI said. Upon arrival, first responders airlifted the child to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and EMS crews rushed the woman by ground to Rhode Island Hospital.
The child is recovering from critical wounds, while the mother is from serious injuries.
It’s unclear why the driver lost control of his vehicle. Nonetheless, it appears he won’t face any criminal charges.
