WARWICK, RI – Several people were hospitalized Tuesday in a multi-vehicle collision along the interstate in southwest Warwick, reports WPRI 12.
The accident occurred sometime before 2 p.m. on I-94 at Exit 24, which is near RI-2 and Showcase Cinemas.
Police say that an 18-wheeler struck a vehicle that had slowed behind an earlier crash on I-94. The impact of the collision caused the semi to overturn.
Medics transported five people from the two crashes to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials closed the northbound side of I-94 near Exit 24A while emergency crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
