2 injured, 1 arrested in DUI crash at W Shore, Chesterfield

WARWICK, RI – Two people were hurt Sunday in a collision caused by an alleged drunk driver in northeast Kent County, reports 10 WJAR.

The accident occurred shortly before 11:45 p.m. on West Shore Road near Chesterfield Avenue in northeast Warwick, about 12 miles south of Providence.

Police say that the 46-year-old driver of a Ford F150 entered the wrong side of West Shore Road and crashed head on into a Toyota RAV4.

Medics transported the two occupants of the Toyota to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, later identified as Brian Weaver, did not stop to render aid, instead choosing to flee south on Shore Road. Weaver crashed into a fire truck near Sandy Lane.

Weaver sustained minor injuries and was arrested on DUI charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
