TAUNTON, MA – A single-vehicle collision along a major roadway in northwest Taunton claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman last Friday, reports Taunton Daily Gazette.
Just prior to 10:15 p.m., Taunton Police were called to a fiery crash along Tremont Street between Cameron Avenue and Katherine Drive. This is just northeast of the John F. Parker Golf Course.
While the cause of the accident remains under investigation, police say that a Toyota Tacoma left Tremont Street and crashed into the front porch of home. The pickup also impacted with at least two parked cars in the driveway of the home.
The impact of these collisions caused the Toyota to ignite, ultimately killing the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Authorities have since identified her as Savannah Salemme of Dighton.
Nobody in the home on Tremont sustained injuries in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
