SMITHFIELD, RI – At least one person was hurt Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident along the highway in central Providence County, reports 10 WJAR.
The crash happened sometime before 2:20 p.m. along US-44, or Putnam Pike, in Smithfield. This is about 16 miles northwest of Providence. Police haven’t yet provided a cross street for the accident.
Details regarding the collision remain limited. Authorities say that a car caught fire after crashing along the highway.
Medics transported one person from the vehicle to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
