PROVIDENCE, RI – Rhode Island State Police are investigating the details behind a fatal fiery crash that happened on I-95 South Sunday.
According to WJAR News Channel 10, the events unfolded after 3 a.m. when a driver seemed to lose control of their car, which caused it to overturn. Moments later, two vehicles struck the flipped-over car, which caused it to catch on fire.
The driver of the fiery vehicle succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the two other drivers were hospitalized.
The surviving motorists are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Providence fire crews did not say how long it took to extinguish the flames and if the driver of the rolled-over vehicle suffered fatal injuries prior to their arrival.
