Police officer hospitalized after collision at Chalkstone, Mt. Pleasant

PROVIDENCE, RI – A police officer went to the hospital Saturday after a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in northwest Providence.

According to News Radio 920 WHJJ, the accident happened around 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Avenue. This is just northeast of Mt. Pleasant Academy and west of Roger Williams Medical Center.

The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle struck a police cruiser in the intersection. The cause and circumstances of the accident are not yet clear.

The police officer involved in the crash has since been released from the hospital.

No other injuries have been reported in connection to the collision.

It’s unclear if the other driver will face charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
