News: 1 dead following crash on Scituate Ave in Cranston

CRANSTON, RI – According to WJAR, a man died following a two-vehicle collision on Scituate Ave Monday.

Garrison Gonzalez, 61, was driving a white work van transporting oxygen tanks for a healthcare company when he and the driver of another white work van collided around 9 p.m.

Following the collision, three of the oxygen tanks began to leak. Crews had to remove the tanks before the van could be moved.

Crews extricated Gonzalez and his passenger from the van and transported Gonzalez to an area hospital, where he died. Gonzalez’s passenger and the other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision.

The incident is under investigation by the Cranston Police Traffic Unit.
