4 hospitalized after fiery crash in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Four people were taken to area hospitals after an 18-year-old woman crashed her car into a utility pole, leading it to catch on fire Monday.

This collision happened around 8 p.m. in a neighborhood on Forbes Street, according to Turnto10. Some trees also caught on fire. Despite the severity of the collision, good samaritans like Peter Rocha, whose front-yard plants were destroyed in the crash, and others like him sprung into action to save the 18-year-old woman and the two passengers with her, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old boy.

It appears the 18-year-old woman also collided with another vehicle. The second driver was a 19-year-old woman who had a 14-year-old girl with her as a passenger. They also appeared to have been saved.

Officials did not clarify which specific individuals were hospitalized, as they only stated that an ambulance rushed two occupants to Hasbro Children’s Hospital and two passengers to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of broken bones.
