Seven injured in New Bedford bus accident Tuesday morning

NEW BEDFORD, MA – Seven passengers in an adult day care van were injured in a Tuesday morning wreck involving a school bus in New Bedford, reports WJAR.

Police responded to the scene just after 7:40 a.m. following reports of a two-vehicle collision at Ambergris Lane and Durfee Street.

Officials say the van was traveling along Durfee Street just before the crash occurred. As the van driver attempted to make a left turn onto Oakland Street, the van and the school bus struck each other.

No children aboard the bus suffered harm, according to police, but seven van passengers were hurt. Officials said the injuries appeared to be minor. Emergency crews took the seven injured van occupants to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate how the crash happened.
