NEW BEDFORD, RI – Seven people were displaced and four officers suffered minor injuries after a New Bedford home caught fire early Monday morning.
According to WBSM, the fire broke out in a three-family residence at 34 Sidney Street near Hemlock Street around 1 a.m.
Police officers evacuated six adults and one infant, as well as several pets from the burning building.
Four officers suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be treated.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze in about an hour. None of the residents were injured.
