NEW BEDFORD, MA – A driver struck and injured a juvenile pedestrian at Shawmut Avenue and Durfee Street in New Bedford, reports NBC 10 News.
Police were called to the scene at around 7:30 a.m. Investigators say a vehicle hit the pedestrian as the motorist was turning left onto Shawmut Avenue.
Authorities described the impact as a low-speed collision. The driver reportedly told officers that bright morning sunlight had made it difficult for them to see clearly.
According to reports, the juvenile pedestrian involved suffered minor injuries in the collision. Emergency crews took them to the hospital for treatment.
