TAUNTON, MA – The alleged drunk driver who was charged with the deadly crash on MA 24 Sunday appeared in court Monday, according to WPRI.
Fred Moreira, 35, was allegedly intoxicated when he collided with two motorcyclists around 2:30 a.m.
One of the motorcyclists, Tyler Moniz, 30, died at the scene and the other, a 39-year-old man, was critically injured in the incident.
Moreira has been charged with multiple charges including OUI and vehicular homicide.
Authorities determined Moreira’s blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Moreira was out on personal recognizance for domestic assault and was denied bail for up to 90 days because he violated the terms of his release.
