Pedestrian struck, injured on Garfield Ave in NE Cranston

CRANSTON, RI – A man was hospitalized Friday following an auto-pedestrian accident on a major roadway in southeast Providence County.

According to 10 WJAR, the accident occurred just before 8 p.m. along Garfield Avenue between New Depot Avenue and the northbound access ramp to Huntington Expressway in Cranston.

It was raining and sleeting, police say, when a car struck a pedestrian along the Garfield Avenue.

Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.

Drivers likely faced delays along Garfield Avenue while crews assisted the injured victim and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
