CRANSTON, RI – An elderly man sustained fatal injuries last Friday when a vehicle struck him along a major roadway in northwest Cranston, reports WPRI 12.
The accident happened in the evening on Atwood Avenue near Topeka Street. This is just west of Dyer and Randall Ponds.
Police say that a car hit 80-year-old Richard Viti as he attempted to cross Atwood Avenue on foot.
Viti died after transport to an area hospital.
The driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with police. He will likely face charges in connection to the crash.
A full investigation is underway.
