Employee crashes thru Coventry daycare fence, injuring 5

COVENTRY, RI – Multiple children were hurt Monday when a driver crashed through the fence of a child care facility in Kent County, reports WPRI 12 News.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the Child Care Plus Learning Center in the city of Coventry, which is about 14 miles southwest of Warwick.

Police say that for unknown reasons, an employee from the facility lost control of her vehicle and drove through the fence and onto the playground where more than a dozen children were playing.

Medics transported five kids to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. They are all expected to survive.

No charges have been announced thus far.

A full investigation is underway.
