BLACKSTONE, MA – A 63-year-old male driver was sent to a hospital after his SUV crashed and overturned along the Blackstone River Sunday.
Blackstone police told WJAR News that the rollover crash happened after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Washington Streets. The impact of the collision caused the SUV to go underneath a parked and unoccupied SUV, which leaned against a tree.
Blackstone fire crews had to extricate the 63-year-old man from the SUV and stabilize the vehicle. Once the extrication and stabilization were completed, medical helicopter personnel airlifted the 63-year-old man from North Providence to a hospital.
The man’s current physical condition has not been disclosed at this time.
Woonsocket and North Smithfield first responders assisted Blackstone fire crews and police.
A full investigation is underway.
