NEW BEDFORD, MA – A 67-year-old woman died after getting struck by a tractor-trailer in New Bedford on Thursday, WJAR10 reports.
The pedestrian-truck crash occurred on the 79th block of Mill Street. The woman, a New Bedford local, had exited a cab, walked out onto the road, and was hit by the tractor-trailer.
The New Bedford local, identified as Amy Asker by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
New Bedford police said the truck driver cooperated with investigators. They did not say if they cited him for his involvement in the pedestrian-truck crash, and no charges appeared to have been filed.
A full investigation is underway.
