CRANSTON, RI – A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident on Monday night along Niantic Avenue in Cranston, reports NBC 10 News.
Police say the crash happened near 245 Niantic Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. The rider was later identified as Kou Lee, 44, of West Warwick. After the crash, emergency crews took Lee to Rhode Island Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Investigators believe Lee was traveling south at high speed along Niantic before the wreck. Police say his bike apparently went off course, hit a curb, then crashed into a utility pole near a parking area. The impact reportedly threw him from the motorcycle.
According to officials, Lee was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators continue to review evidence from the scene. Cranston police ask any witnesses with information about the incident to come forward.
