SOMERSET, MA – A Tiverton woman died Thursday night in a wrong-way collision along the interstate in Bristol County, reports abc 6.
Around 7:45 p.m., emergency teams responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Charles M. Braga Jr. Memorial Bridge in Somerset, just northwest of Fall River.
Police say that the driver of a westbound Toyota sedan entered the eastbound side of the interstate and collided head on with two eastbound vehicles.
The wrong-way driver, who has since been identified as 69-year-old Gail Lopes, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Medics transported the other two drivers to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
