FRANKLIN, MA – A 38-year-old woman was the second person in her family to die from her injuries earlier this week after a crash caused by a suspected impaired driver on Saturday, May 24.
The woman’s five-year-old daughter had died from her injuries at the scene on May 24. WPRI said the took place on Grove Street. Preliminary details reveal that the family of four was on their way to pick up a cake for their teenage son’s birthday when the alleged intoxicated driver crashed into their vehicle.
EMS crews hurried the 38-year-old woman, her husband, and their 14-year-old son hospital. The woman later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. She has since been identified as Minaben Patel.
Minaben’s husband, Atu Patel, was treated for unspecified injuries and released from the hospital on May 24, and his son was released from the hospital some time last week.
The alleged impaired driver was identified as 21-year-old Blanchard. He pleads not guilty to many charges, such as “motor vehicle homicide and operating under the influence of liquor.”
