COVENTRY, RI – First responders transported 24 people to area hospitals following a fire at Genesis Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center Thursday.
ABC 6 reports that the fire broke out in one room of the facility and was contained in that room by the sprinkler system.
Members of the rehab center were evacuated due to the smoke produced by the sprinklers system battling the fire.
Of the 24 injured, 23 had minor injuries and one person was treated at the ICU for smoke inhalation.
The State Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
