Man dies following crash on US 6 in Johnston

JOHNSTON, RI – Rhode Island State Police are investigating a crash that left one man dead and a woman hurt on US 6 near Killingly St Saturday, according to WJAR.

Jimmie Pemberton, 49, was driving a BMW sedan when he attempted to take an off-ramp from US 6 to Killingly St and went down a 150 ft embankment around 7:30 p.m.

Pemberton was not wearing a seatbelt and was launched from the vehicle during the crash. He died in the incident.

Rescue crews extricated Pemberton’s passenger, an unidentified woman, from the vehicle and transported her to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
