LAKEVILLE, MA – The Lakeville Police Department is investigating a fatal four-vehicle collision that happened on
Main St near Elliot Farm on Friday.
The drivers of a Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Camry, Audi S4, and Chevrolet Silverado collided around 5:30 p.m.
Emergency responders extricated multiple people from one vehicle using the jaws of life.
Rescue crews pronounced a passenger from the Camry, Richard Reed, dead at the scene. They transported two women to an area hospital. They also took the suspect, David DeLorenzo, 73, to a hospital. He was later released.
Authorities charged DeLorenzo with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of liquor causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and marked lanes violation.
DeLorenzo is being held on a $10,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.
