WARWICK, RI – A vehicle struck and injured an elderly man along a major roadway in northeast Kent County Wednesday night, reports 10 WJAR.
The auto-pedestrian crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. near the Planet Fitness on Warwick Road between Miantonomo Drive and Namquid Drive in north Warwick.
The initial investigation indicates that 71-year-old Michael Zarum was walking east to west across Warwick Road when a car hit him.
Zarum was walking outside of a designated crosswalk when the accident occurred.
Medics transported the pedestrian to an area hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver involved in the crash did not show signs of intoxication.
The investigation is ongoing.
