COVENTRY, RI – A single-vehicle crash involving a school bus in northeast Kent County injured an elementary student on Wednesday morning, reports 10 WJAR.
Around 8:30 a.m., a bus carrying 13 students to Greenbush Elementary School crashed near the intersection of West Warwick Avenue and Washington Street in Coventry. This is just west of Warwick and around 21 miles southwest of Providence.
Police say that the driver lost control of the bus when one the tires hit a snow bank. The bus then crashed into and downed a utility pole.
Medics transported one child from the bus to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear if the driver will face charges.
A full investigation is underway.
