WARWICK, RI – A child was hospitalized Thursday following an auto-pedestrian crash involving a police officer in northeast Kent County, reports NBC 10 Boston.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Boylston Street near Rocky Point State Park in the city of Warwick, which is 12 miles south of Providence.
Police say that the state trooper involved in the accident left the scene of the accident but returned soon after.
Medics transported the 5-year-old victim with serious injuries to a children’s hospital in Providence. The child is expected to survive their injuries.
Authorities haven’t yet released any further information regarding the circumstances of the crash.
