Updated: Bicyclist intoxicated, struck by car in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, MA – Updates emerge surrounding the seriously injured bicyclist in a crash yesterday evening on Route 28, CapeCod.com reports.

A bicyclist, traveling down the middle lane, was struck by a 2018 Subaru Outback around 5:52 on Feb. 8th, 2022.

Emergency crews responded to 167 East Falmouth Highway to discover the bicyclist seriously injured. The driver of the Subaru, a 73-year-old woman and an unidentified passenger, appeared to have no injuries. The bicyclist was then life-flighted by Boston Medflight to Rhode Island Hospital to receive further treatment for his injuries.

Upon further investigation, the bicyclist is identified to be 49-year-old resident of East Falmouth. Reports state he was riding down a badly lit median, without proper lighting on his bike.

The bicyclist will receive citations for these violations against State Bicycle Safety Laws.
