COVENTRY, RI – WPRI reports that an 85-year-old woman was injured when she drove off Sandy Bottom Rd and into the Pawtuxet River Tuesday.
According to police, the woman swerved to avoid another vehicle just before she drove off the bridge and into the river.
Police officers responded to the crash around 9:15 a.m. Three officers jumped into the river to rescue the woman. She was then taken to an area hospital.
