UXBRIDGE, MA – Police are investigating a crash that caused the death of an Uxbridge Police Officer early Wednesday, reports CBS News.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to an auto-pedestrian accident on Route 146 in Uxbridge, which is about 24 miles northwest of Providence.
Officer Stephen LaPorta was parked on the northbound side of the highway while he assisted with a disabled passenger vehicle. Another northbound vehicle struck LaPorta, fatally injuring him.
