Man pleads guilty to starting fire that killed Worcester firefighter

WORCESTER, MA – A man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison for starting a fire that killed one in Worcester on Friday.

Momoh Kamara intentionally set a fire in December 2018 at a Lowell Street apartment building in Worcester. He started the fire after a dispute with his roommates, investigators say.

Christopher Roy, a Worcester firefighter, died of smoke inhalation at the hospital after fighting the blaze. He was a single father of a then 9-year-old girl.

According to WJAR, Kamara was sentenced Friday on charges of voluntary manslaughter, arson, armed burglary, and malicious destruction of a motor vehicle.
