RICHMOND, R.I. — A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 claimed the life of a Connecticut resident Wednesday, according to the Westerly Sun.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Richmond, according to a statement from Rhode Island State Police.
The driver, identified as Klaudyna Polewacz, 35, of Middletown, Conn., lost control of her vehicle, which then entered the median and overturned multiple times.
Investigators said Polewacz was not restrained at the time of the accident, resulting in her ejection from the vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Polewacz to a nearby medical facility, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Law enforcement officials indicated that excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing.
