PROVIDENCE, RI – A woman was injured after being struck by a driver and trapped on his hood while he continued to drive through Providence for nearly ten minutes.
WPRI reports the series of events began on Exchange Street when Keith Beard and an unnamed woman were involved in a car accident. The woman approached Beard’s car and then got her hand trapped by the hood of Beard’s vehicle.
Beard drove away with the victim still on the hood of the car. Beard made several changes in direction, ultimately being stopped by police at Union Avenue and Althea street.
The woman’s injuries were described as minor, and it is unknown if these injuries required hospitalization.
Beard faces several charges including assault and battery, driving to endanger, and driving with a suspended license.
Investigators say that Beard and his victim had never met previously.
