The Providence Police Department in Rhode Island reported that 73-year-old William Betz lost his life in a pedestrian accident. A car struck Betz as he was crossing Allens Avenue near the intersection of Swan Street on Sunday, September 18.
Police said Betz succumbed to his mortal injuries while confined at Rhode Island Hospital. People close to the victim said he worked near the site of the accident, and he walked in the area frequently.
Currently, investigators are conducting further investigations into the case to determine if alcohol or speed were factors in the accident. Authorities have issued no citations as of Sunday night. The driver who hit Betz with his car is giving his full cooperation to investigators.
