Man, 31, fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, RI – A 31-year-old man succumbed to fatal wounds last Monday after he was struck by a driver, who fled the scene while walking on East School Street.

Police told Turnto10 this collision happened around 11:30 p.m. They said the pedestrian, later identified as Michael Lefebvre, a Woonsocket resident, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital.

Officers started an investigation and said Lefebvre was intentionally struck by the hit-and-run suspect, who they later identified as 37-year-old Andrew Martin. They confirmed Martin’s vehicle was apprehended, although Martin has not been located at this time.

Police confirmed Martin knew Lefebvre and said he was “charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and reckless driving with serious bodily injury.”

Should anyone have more information about this deadly collision or on Martin and his whereabouts, they are asked to contact the police department.
