Thirty-three-year-old resident Daniel James was taken into police custody from his home in East Providence, Rhode Island, and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious personal injury, as well as motor infractions, in relation to a crash that he caused along Legion Way last Tuesday, July 5 that injured a pedestrian and a bicyclist and claimed the life of a dog.
According to Lieutenant Thomas Rush, the victims, who were only identified as a married couple, both 47 years of age, were taking a stroll along Legion Way when James left the road, crashing his vehicle into them and a parked car, before driving away. The wife was reportedly on the bicycle while her husband was walking their dog, who died at the scene of the accident.
