Alleged DUI driver arrested after crash that injured motorcyclist in Portsmouth 

PORTSMOUTH, RI – An alleged DUI driver was arrested after causing a crash that injured a motorcyclist in Portsmouth on Friday.

Police told WJAR10 News that the incident happened before 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of West Main Road and Stringham Road. A 38-year-old woman, driving a vehicle, crashed into a left-turning motorcycle coming onto West Main Road and going toward Strongham Road.

EMS crews rushed the motorcyclist to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, while police stayed behind and arrested the 38-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI.

The suspect has been identified as Lesslie McDowell, while the motorcyclist’s identity was not released.
