PORTSMOUTH, RI – A Portsmouth resident, 90, suffered serious harm in a Wednesday afternoon pedestrian crash on East Main Road, reports NBC 10 News.
Police say the incident happened at around 1:14 p.m. on May 13. Officers responded to the scene along East Main Road following reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision.
According to investigators, a driver in a red Toyota sedan struck the woman. The driver fled from the crash location but was later located and stopped by law enforcement. Authorities identified the motorist as a 76-year-old Bristol woman.
Police report that the injured woman suffered a major injury in the collision. Emergency responders took her to Newport Hospital for care.
Officials have not released more details about how the crash occurred. The collision remains under investigation.
