WOONSOCKET, RI – According to WJAR, the driver who allegedly fled the scene after striking a pedestrian on the 400 block of Diamond Hill Rd was granted bail on Monday.
Jared Travers, 30, was allegedly driving a white sedan on Thursday when he hit the victim, a 71-year-old man, as he was crossing the street around 6:15 p.m.
Rescue crews transported the victim to an area hospital, where he died the next day.
Authorities charged Travers with failing to stop for a fatal crash and failing to provide help.
Travers’s bail was set at $10,000 with surety.
The judge granted Travers permission to leave the state since he lives in Massachusetts.
Travers’s next court date is on Feb. 19.
