WOONSOCKET, RI – A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a collision at an intersection in central Woonsocket late Tuesday morning, WPRI reports.
The two-car crash happened on Harris Avenue where it meets Verry Street and Kindergarten Street at about 11:45 a.m.
The driver of one of the vehicles was rushed to Landmark Medical Center, where she passed away. She has been identified as Cristina Perez, a 58-year-old resident of Burrillville.
A 20-year-old female passenger in Perez’s vehicle was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she remained as of this morning. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where she underwent surgery for serious injuries. She has been identified only as a 25-year-old woman.
Little else is known about the crash at this time, except that authorities believe speed was a factor. We will provide updates as possible.
