Medical episode leads to pedestrian crash in Newport 

NEWPORT, RI – A 50-year-old woman had experienced a medical episode, leading her to drift off Connell Highway and hit a 58-year-old man walking along the road Wednesday. 

The collision happened around 6:30 a.m., WJAR News 10 said. After arriving, ambulance personnel rushed the pedestrian, a Newport local, and female driver to Rhode Island Hospital. The man is recovering from serious wounds, while the woman is in stable condition. 

Police anticipate no criminal charges filed against the woman. Officers began an investigation and have not released additional information at this time.
