MATTAPOISETT, MA – The wife of Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan was seriously injured Sunday morning when she was struck by a passenger vehicle while riding her bicycle, WHDH reports.
Judi Coogan was on a 60-mile ride with the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen cycling club when a car ran a stop sign and collided with three of the riders, Mayor Coogan wrote on Facebook.
She suffered broken collarbones, 12 fractured ribs, and punctured lungs, and is currently receiving treatment at Saint Luke’s Hospital.
It is unclear if either of the other cyclists was injured, or whether the driver who hit them will face criminal charges.
