JOHNSTON, RI – A 21-year-old man was hospitalized after he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole in the area of I-295 and Hartford Avenue Sunday.
WPRI said the single-vehicle crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. and happened after the 21-year-old man appeared to lose control of his vehicle, causing him to veer off the westbound lanes. Moments later, his vehicle slammed into the pole, pinning or entrapping him temporarily.
Fire crews extricated the man, and ambulance personnel rushed him to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Johnston police are working to determine why the 21-year-old man lost control of his vehicle.
