HARWICH, MA – A man suffered critical injuries Tuesday night in a Harwich car crash involving an allegedly impaired and distracted driver, reports WCVB.
The wreck happened at Pleasant Lake Avenue and Har-Wood Avenue on Cape Cod. Authorities say the crash involved a pickup and a passenger car.
Police identified the pickup driver as 26-year-old Josephine Marsh of Brewster. Investigators say her pickup truck struck the other vehicle at the Harwich intersection.
Emergency crews found the man critically injured and pinned inside the car. Rescuers worked for an extended period to free him from the wreckage before transporting him to Barnstable Airport. A medical helicopter then transferred him to a hospital near Boston for treatment.
Marsh sustained minor harm in the crash, according to police. Officers later arrested her at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. They also cited allegations involving reckless operation, driving without a valid license, driving while using a phone, and a lane violation.
Marsh is reportedly slated for arraignment in Orleans District Court.
