FALL RIVER, MA – Two people are dead after an impaired wrong-way driver collided with an SUV on The Veterans Memorial Bridge on Monday, according to WJAR.
Adam Gauthier, 41, was driving a Land Rover east in the westbound lanes of traffic when he collided with an Infiniti SUV around 11:10 p.m.
The crash killed two people in the SUV, Floriano Arruda, 73, and his 15-year-old grandson. Aruda’s Wife, Donna Arruda, 68, was critically injured in the wreck.
A Honda sedan was also involved in the incident. Two women inside of it suffered minor injuries.
Rescue crews transported all six people involved in the wreck to an area hospital.
Authorities have charged Gauthier with motor vehicle homicide, manslaughter, operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation and driving the wrong way.
Gauthier is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Jan. 9.
