2 seriously hurt in rear-end crash with trash truck in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Two people were seriously hurt in a rear-end crash involving a trash truck that happened at the intersection of Mink Street and Rhode Island 114 on Friday.

According to WJAR News 10, the driver of a sedan had rear-ended the trash truck around 5:30 a.m. The force of the crash entrapped or pinned the sedan passenger, a girl. Fire crews used the Jaws of Life method to free her.

Once the extrication was complete, ambulance crews transported the sedan passenger and the sedan driver, a man, to a hospital for treatment of their serious injuries.

The sedan driver is going to face charges. Officials have not specified the kind of charges they will face.
