Tow truck falls from MA-140 at Washburn, killing driver

EAST FREETOWN, MA – A tow truck driver sustained fatal injuries Friday in a two-vehicle collision along the highway in east-central Bristol County, reports 10 WJAR.

The accident occurred at 6 p.m. on MA-140 at Washburn Road in East Freetown, which is about 38 miles southeast of Providence, Rhode Island.

Police say that a vehicle struck a tow truck, pushing it off of the MA-140 overpass.

Authorities pronounced the driver of the tow truck deceased at the scene. His name has not yet been released to the public.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the collision stopped to render aid and to speak with police.

No charges have been filed so far.

A full investigation is underway.
