CRANSTON, RI – A woman told police she was feeling faint when she passed out while driving, causing her to crash into a utility pole, leading it to spit in half and injuring herself.
This single-vehicle collision happened before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of the 555th block of Atwood Avenue, along Dyer & Randall Ponds, Turnto10 revealed. Along with police, Rhode Island Energy also pulled up to the scene, ready to replace the damaged pole.
Not many details leading up to the crash were mentioned, although an eyewitness did tell officers that the woman had swerved from the left lane and into the right lane prior to colliding with that power pole.
First responders checked in on the woman and two boys with her before sending them to area medical facilities. An ambulance transported the woman to Rhode Island Hospital and the two boys with her to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
